DisplayPort Testing - Ensuring Compatibility For consumers

DisplayPort Testing - Ensuring Compatibility For consumers

Hdmi

DisplayPort is an audio-video interconnect standard for easy viewing and the adoption of protected digital outputs on the computer is on. This allows users to easily view HD content and other protected files. Since DisplayPort signaling can both DVI and HDMI (digital display other protocols) transmitted, DisplayPort is compatible with many common compounds, and therefore the consumer devices that use the standards. For consumers, this means that they caneasily integrate DisplayPort sources or devices in their homes and offices.

The DisplayPort interface standard defined by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA), an organization promoting standardization in the segment display is a digital audio / video, computer monitors and home theater systems. The organization also determines the size standard for mounting flat screen as well as other efforts to standardize. Formally adopted in 2006,DisplayPort includes DisplayPort Content Protection (DPCP). The ability of content protection, using 128-bit encryption and offers a full authentication and session key establishment. For consumers, this means that even commercially-protected contents are played back via the DisplayPort interface, creating a perfect user experience.

DisplayPort version 1.1 Support for High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) to prevent digital copying of audio and video while travelingabout DisplayPort connection to a display device. HDCP is also used in other types of compounds, such as HDMI.

PC manufacturers developed DisplayPort to computing needs and replace the external analog video graphics array (VGA), PC interface and LCD monitors and consumer electronics. It also offers additional functionality via external DisplayPort Digital Visual Interface (DVI) connectors are found in devices. It will also replace internalBoard-to-Screen Low Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS) interface connects to devices with single link.

DisplayPort technology appears to be gaining momentum. According to a 2008 report published by market analyst firm In-Stat, DisplayPort is expected to reach that point is more than 600 million products by 2012. The site lists more than 165 members DisplayPort VESA, a veritable who's who of consumer electronics and PC industries. Many of these companies have announcedtheir intention to implement or support the DisplayPort technology into their products. Some major industry heavyweights like Dell, for example, have already been numerous complaints Shipping with DisplayPort technology.

Mini DisplayPort - Apple drives smaller form factor
Mini DisplayPort interface is a reduced version of the traditional DisplayPort connector and socket, and was publicly announced by Apple in 2008. Products with the Apple Mini DisplayPort connector, theMacBook family of laptops, iMac, Mac Mini, Mac Pro and Apple Cinema Displays across the board. replacing DisplayPort and DVI interfaces found the mini-DVI on the previous generation of intuitive Mac Mini DisplayPort connector connects to your Mac with an LED display and offers both video and audio, allowing the number of marrow involvement with an external monitor and speakers.

Unlike predecessors mini-DVI and Micro-DVI to Mini DisplayPort canView the high resolution commonly associated with screens 30 inches and larger. Large displays are becoming more common. DisplayPort supplements Dell and Apple recently released 30-inch product offers. Laptops with a Mini DisplayPort to connect a computer to an external monitor or projector with a VGA port or DVI using an adapter. During normal and mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort signals are identical, their connections are different, and Mini DisplayPort to connectregular DisplayPort, or conversely, you need an adapter.

In the spring of 2009, VESA announced that there are mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort specification 1.2. DisplayPort 1.2 specification should be completed by the end of this year VESA. DisplayPort 1.2 specification offers the following:
--- 2X speed DisplayPort specification 1.1a
--- Support Multi-stream for a connection
--- Auxiliary channel option allows for faster,Two-way mass transfer of data via a DisplayPort cable
--- Added support for DisplayPort mini-plug
Backwards compatibility with DisplayPort version 1.1a ---

DisplayPort Test
The job done with an independent laboratory, accredited by VESA DisplayPort testing ensures that products work properly display port, which is particularly important for consumer video applications. DisplayPort ensures compliance and testing program of the logo, the productsfeatures DisplayPort standard guidelines.

DisplayPort test categories are:
--- Physical Layer Test
--- Link Layer Test
--- Electrical Test
--- HDCP test

Although not required, VESA DisplayPort certification of products, it is highly recommended. Once a device manufacturer is certified, the manufacturer receives the right to use the logo DisplayPort. The DisplayPort Certified Logo guarantees end users that certified products will work correctly andoffer a viewing experience high-quality digital.

Related tests
The tests in connection with the testing of DisplayPort include:
--- Conformance Testing HDMI: HDMI compliance testing ensures high operational definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) products properly.
--- Consumer Electronics Control test (CEC): CEC is one of the functions defined in the HDMI specification 1.2a. This test checks whether the CEC feature of a product to perform properly.
--- HDCP for HDMI compliance testingor products DisplayPort: This test determines whether HDCP implementation meets certain requirements.
SRGB --- Program Compliance: products consisting of all the tests will use the sRGB sRGB logos are granted. This logo shows that end-users that the ad has been tested by an independent third party test.
